Values Based Food and Agriculture.

We are a small family farm that is driven by our values, and we strive to base every decision on our belief that people, animals and the earth need to be treated with respect. This often includes not doing things the easy way or the fast way. It means looking to our agricultural past to see what knowledge they can pass on and it also means looking to the future to see what new organic and harmonious agricultural practices can help us maintain our values. We are proud to say that:

We Practice Regenerative Agriculture

This value shows up in how we farm every day. We focus on regenerative agriculture practices that rebuild rather than deplete the land by caring for the soil as a living ecosystem, protecting soil structure, increasing organic matter, and encouraging beneficial microbial life. We also promote plant and wildlife diversity and manage our animals in ways that naturally improve soil fertility. Through these practices, we are restoring the land, improving soil health, and increasing biodiversity both in the soil and across the farm.

We Are Certified Organic

We put this value into practice by the standards we farm under. Certified organic  includes no chemical pesticides, fungicides, or herbicides (including glyphosate), no GMOs, no animal byproducts, no antibiotics, and no hormones. Organic practices also support soil health, encourage diversity, and require a higher standard of animal welfare. Certified Organic means our farm complies with Canadian Organic Standards and is regularly inspected to ensure those standards are met. We believe that organic is better for your health, your families health, the animal’s health and the health of the environment.

We Are Certified Humane

This value guides how our animals are cared for from start to finish. Certified Humane standards ensure animals are raised with care and respect. These standards are based on the five freedoms of animal welfare: freedom from hunger and thirst; pain, injury, and disease; distress; discomfort; and the freedom to express natural behaviors. Our daily routines are focused on minimizing stress and treating animals respectfully.

We Are Pasture-Raised

We put this value into practice by focusing on the importance of pasture in giving animals diets that match their natural needs and environments that keep stress low. Cattle are raised on pasture with a 100% grass-fed diet year round, and poultry and pigs have access to pasture during the spring, summer, and fall, along with high-quality organic free-choice feed. These practices create a holistic system where soil, plants, and animals support each other. The result is healthier animals, fewer illnesses, and no need for medications, showing how attention to both diet and environment works together to promote overall well-being.

We Are Celiac Safe and Allergy Free

This value is reflected in the ingredients we choose, and the ones we leave out. We, the Hamilton family, are celiacs and have severe food allergies. Because of this, all our sausages, hot dogs, bacon, and deli meats are made without gluten, soy, egg, dairy, corn, nitrates, sulphates, MSG, fillers, chemicals, or preservatives. We use only our own healthy meat, certified organic spices, and certified organic honey or maple syrup as sweeteners, no refined sugars or corn syrups. Simple, clean, great-tasting food.

Over 30 Years
For over 30 years, we have farmed and made decisions based on this set of core values, first written down in 1995 after attending a Holistic Management course.

When you purchase our products, you are choosing local  food produced with care for your health, the animals’ well-being, and the land it comes from. Every product we raise and make reflects these values in practice, not just in words.
